Review: Triangle(2009)

Now to be clear i have seen that movie before on Tv. But didnt pay much attention to it. So it never struck me as something watchable. Then some months ago my friend gave the movie to me with many others which i had asked him to get me. So in the midst of better movies i forgot this n somehow today turned it on n watched with full attention. N i got to say, wow. I had made the right decision :)

N as Carriers this too is a slow burn psychological movie. Not much horror but mind bending twist n turns which thrills you not scares you. A quite mean feat from the director of two creepy n gory movies- creep n severance. Those two were fine horror movies but this cant be classified as a horror but a dread inducing thriller.

Riding on Melissa George's back as she turns on a fine performance. The movie devotes its whole time on her as the others are killed as early as the 30th minute. After that its one twist after another as we are slowly revealed with sporadic well done up violence, why is she entangled in a such a never ending web.

For those wondering the story is about a group of people out on a sailing trip in miami. When their small boat gets trapped in a mysterious storm. Suddenly they see a ship n board it expecting rescue. But it turns out to be something more sinister....

As exciting as it sounds the movie felt boring at a couple of places. It was aiming at becoming a full blown psychological thriller rather than a horror,i guess. And maybe it's also because i like my horror to have more gore n action. Plus its just Melissa and her legs(thxxx to my friend @jbrivard for this) throughout the last hour. And thank God she delivers a fine performance or else this movie would have sank without a trace. Not to forget direction n camerawork are amazingly good. Christopher Smith has a penchant for creating creep n dread n he's in full flow in Triangle.

Borrowing from Greek Mythology the writer director creates something new. So those haven't plz watch the movie :)
