Rec was one most frightening movies to come from spain in the Found Footage sub genre. Directed by James Balaguero n Paco plaza it turned out to be a massive hit among the horror fans. The simple story of a female reporter and her cameraman trapped inside with zombies made for a gripping view for its modest 70 minutes runtime.
And plus another 70-80 minutes of fun when Rec2 arrived. Telling the story some minutes after the incident in the first movie. It tells about a SWAT team sent with cams fitted on their helmets to contain the situation. A nice little twist to justify the found footage cliched question- Why the hell they recording instead of helping or running???
And then Rec3 arrived. For the first time directed by a single director- Paco Plaza. A radically different film it went away from the claustrophobic path of its predecessor n paid the price. Marriage zombies n a Milla Jovovich type character was not what Rec needed. It needed to continue on the legacy of its predecessor. But it didnt and failed.

And now James Balaguero has to bring back on track the Rec series after the disastrous third part. Not an easy thing to do as people rarely forget a bad movie. But horror fans are the most generous fans one can ask for. They take so much crap without cribbing and try to find the good in every movie. And credit to horror filmmakers they dont often disappoint :)
Rec4 apocalypse is about the reporter Angela Vidal coming out of the building with the virus, unknown to the soldiers. She has to be transported to an oil tanker surrounded by water on all sides. N thats where she will be quarantined.
Looks good right? Yes it feels like the claustrophobic fear of the first two is back. Oil tanker, water on all sides, ignorant soldiers n a zombie to transport. Hell yeah. Waiting impatiently for it. Are you???
