REVIEW: TURISTAS(2006)

TOURISTS GETTING BUTCHERED? THAT WAS DONE IN HOSTEL N I LIKED THAT IMMENSELY. KIND OF A SAME PREMISE THIS. SO I WATCHED TURISTAS WITH GREAT INTEREST. LOOKING FOR A HORRIFYING N SCARY EXPERIENCE. BUT SADLY IT DIDNT MAKE MY DAY N I WAS SCARED OF MY EXPECTATIONS :) AGAIN ;)

SYNOPSIS: A group of young backpackers' vacation turns sour when a bus accident leaves them marooned in a remote Brazilian rural area that holds an ominous secret.

INTERCHANGE BRAZIL WITH SLOVAKIA N YOU HAVE THE SYNOPSIS OF HOSTEL. N THAT WAS ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WATCH THE MOVIE. BUT ALAS NOTHING CAME OUT OF IT. NO GORE. NO SCARE. NO EMPATHY. JUST NOT MUCH THRILL. KIND OF A GOOD PREMISE WASTED. SIGH :(

DIRECTION IS THE PLUS POINT IN THIS MOVIE. JOHN STOCKWELL DID GOOD. KIND OF CLASSY WAY TO GO ABOUT SHOWING A BUNCH OF TEENS GETTING BUTCHERED. BUT THIS PREMISE NEEDED SOME SINISTER ATMOSPHERE OR GORE TO SUCCEED. BUT BOTH ARE MISSING. HE TRIES N FOR THAT HE GETS THE POINTS. SCREENPLAY WAS BLAND.

SOME GREAT ACTORS IN THE CAST BUT THE ACTING WAS NOT WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR. JUST ENOUGH TO CREATE SOME KIND OF TENSION WHICH IS VERY LESS. JOSH DUHAMEL,OLIVIA WILDE N MELISSA GEORGE. STILL NOTHING. STRANGE.

EDITING WAS SOMEWHAT ERRATIC. SOUND WAS GOOD. BUT CINEMATOGRAPHY WAS AWESOME. BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS CAUGHT BEAUTIFULLY. WELL DONE.

ALL IN ALL A MOVIE WHICH TRIES TO DISCOURAGE YOU FROM GOING TO BRAZIL BUT ENDS UP ENCOURAGING IT :) COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER WITH THAT SCARY PREMISE.
HighTension Meter- 5/10.
