WITH THE INCREASE IN THE SEXUAL VIOLENCE CASES AROUND THE WORLD THERE IS AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF HUE N CRY. WAYS TO DEAL WITH IT ARE BEING SUGGESTED BUT IMPLEMENTATION ISNT HAPPENING. AMONG ALL THAT HORROR MOVIES WERE ALWAYS THE FOREMOST TO SHOW RAPE AS AN ISSUE. BUT THE WAY THEY HANDLED IT MADE RAPE LOOK LIKE AN ENJOYABLE THING. SO THE WOMEN WERE ALWAYS AT LOGGERHEADS WITH THE MAKERS OF SUCH MOVIES. I TOO COULDNT DIGEST RAPE BEING SHOWN AS FRIVOLOUSLY. SO BASICALLY I WATCHED GIRLS AGAINST BOYS WITH SUSPICION. READY TO REJECT IT AT THE FIRST HINT OF ILLOGICAL FEMINISM. BUT FORTUNATELY IT WAS HANDLED IT PRETTY WELL.
SYNOPSIS: After a series of bad experiences with men, Shae teams up with her co-worker, Lu, who has a simple, deadly way of dealing with the opposite sex.
THAT SYNOPSIS TELLS IT ALL. BASICALLY A RAPE REVENGE SHOT CLASSILY. THE BAD EXPERIENCES ARE KEPT OFFSCREEN FORTUNATELY. AS ALSO THE MOST OF THE DEADLY WAY OF DEALING. NICE...
WRITTEN N DIRECTED BY AUSTIN CHICK WHOSE MOVIES INCLUDE XX/XY N AUGUST. SO HE'S A ADEPT AT CREATING CLASSY DRAMAS RATHER THAN HORROR. SO NATURALLY THIS REEKS OF SOME OF HIS EARLIER DRAMAS N DOESNT LOOK LIKE MOST HORRORS. HENCE THE CLASSY FEEL TO THE SAME RAPE REVENGE DRAMA. EXCELLENTLY SHOT. BUT STORY FELL A LITTLE SHORT OF THE MARK. STARTED BRILLIANTLY BUT LOST ITS WAY IN THE MIDDLE BEFORE ENDING NICELY. SO NOT MUCH COMPLAINT THERE.
DANIELLA PANABAKER ACTS SO BRILLIANTLY THAT ITS GUARNTEED YOU WILL CHEER THROUGH THE TORTURE SHE INFLICTS ON HER RAPISTS. I KNOW NOT EVERYBODY THINKS ITS THE RIGHT WAY TO DEAL WITH RAPISTS BUT TILL WE CAN THINK OF A BETTER ONE THIS WILL DO. PLUS THE GORGEOUS NICOLE LALIBERTE AS THE HEARTLESS KILLER JUST TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY. SHE CAN KILL YOU WITH HER LOOKS AS WELL AS THE F**KIN GUN. BRAVO. LIAM AIKEN DOES AN ADORABLE ACT. THE SUPPORTING CAST IS DECENT. WELL DONE CAST.
CINEMATOGRAPHY IS VERY GOOD. CREATING AN ATMOSPHERE OF CHEER N GLOOM WITH PERFECTION. AS IS THE MUSIC. A LITTLE DIFFERENT FEEL TO AN OTHERWISE DONE-TO-DEATH SUBGENRE. EDITING IS PRETTY WELL DONE.
ALL IN ALL A DECENT LOOK AT THE PREVALENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN OUR SOCIETY N HOW NOBODY CAN BE TRUSTED ANYMORE. BUT I AM CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAVE A WOMEN DIRECTOR DONE DIFFERENT. FEMINISM IN HORROR REMAINS A TRICKY TOPIC SO THE CALLS FOR WOMEN WRITER/DIRECTORS GROW LOUDER.
